RSS in 2008 and beyond
Posted: December 30, 2008 Filed under: General News 4 CommentsNow you can also follow Feedity’s progress and exchange your feedback with us on Twitter: @feedity. In January 2009, we’ll also be launching a simplified social exchange for Feedity users to share ideas, concepts, and experiments with Feedity-generated RSS feeds, and general feature requests.
Coming to the annual review, according to the 2008 Google Zeitgerist report the fifth most searched “what is” question on Google was – “What is RSS?“. More people want to know about RSS than scientology or art.
A Razorfish study revealed RSS grew 153% between June 2007 and March 2008. However, RSS, as a content delivery and content subscription model, is still underrated, mainly due to a lack of awareness. It also holds true in the enterprise landscape. Nearly 70% of technology firms fail to utilize RSS.
Promoting the true potential of RSS will be Feedity’s prime objective in the new year. In 2009, we expect to see a continuing growth in the use of RSS feeds, as more and more consumers turn to content-on-the-go as the way to stay connected to the content they love.
A very happy New Year 2009 from the entire Feedity team!
